Bateman Skincare Skin Types
You've heard the saying no one person is created the same, this also applies to your skin. Whether your skin is naturally clear, produces more sebum (“oil”) than others, dries out faster than others or you just can't seem to fight off acne and blemishes, there is a reason for this.
Even though everyone's skin is different we can break down and categorize skin into a few key categories: dry, oily, combination and problematic. We are here to help you find your skin type to best tailor the products we offer.
Maybe you use a moisturizer, maybe you don't. After cleansing your face and you move on with the day do you notice your skin feeling tight, dry in certain areas, rough, dull, flaking or ashy? You most likely have dry skin. The best way to combat dry skin is to not only cleanse but after you cleanse and strip your face of the little oil it produces you must tone to add hydration back into your face and balance your skin's pH level. After toning it is most crucial to add hydration, though not just any moisturizer. Dry skin is best remedied with a cream based moisturizer that uses high quality oils that are as close to your skin's natural sebum as possible. Our Hyaluronic Cream moisturizer was developed keeping dry skin in mind and includes oils like squalane, jojoba and apricot. Along with the oils we've added in hyaluronic acid and water to further lock in moisture and protect your face from the elements.
This cream is your go to moisturizer, you will be able to notice a difference in your skin and it’s appearance almost instantly.
For people that have oily skin they may believe that a moisturizer is not necessary, this is not the case. After you cleanse your face and strip it of its natural oils it is best to tone your skin which will help to rehydrate as well as shrink your pores which release sebum. After you tone a moisturizer is key to keep oil levels at a minimum. Not just any moisturizer though, one with no added oils is the best way to combat oily skin. When you use our Daily Hyaluronic Serum you are telling your skin that it is already hydrated and your body will not produce as much oil as it normally does. The key ingredient in this serum is hyaluronic acid which is an oil free naturally occurring substance in your bodies joints and in nature. This miracle acid can hold over 1000 times it weight in water all while holding moisture to your skin throughout the day.
Using this serum as your moisturizer will result in a less oily appearance while keeping a sharp and youthful look.
As the name says, this skin type is a combination of dry and oily skin. You may find certain parts of your face dry and others oily, most commonly this is referenced as the t-zone. The t-zone is found across your forehead and then down between your eyebrows to the end of your nose. This outline of a T will show where the oils generate on combination skin, while the other parts of the face will most likely be normal to dry. The best way to handle combination skin is to use our Daily Hyaluronic Serum for the same reasons someone with oily skin would. The dry parts of the skin are most likely not as extreme as someone with a dry skin type and this serum will be key in keeping your face healthy and glowing.
Problematic skin suggests that acne and blemishes are common throughout your skin. Whether your skin type is dry or oily you can suffer from this. Using a complete and strict regimen is highly recommended for this skin type. Cleanse, tone and moisturizer as well as maintenance of a weekly mask application which will help exfoliate and draw out oil buildup and dirt on your skin and in your pores.
Though there is more to it than just products and regimen, follow these tried and true tips to achieve a more clear appearance fast.
Cleanse your face morning and night
Double cleanse. Cleanse your face twice, back to back. This allows the first wash to strip your face of oils and dirt, then the second wash can get deeper into pores and touch your skin's cleaned surface.
Don't forget to wash your pillowcases weekly
Keep your hands and arms off of your face, try not to rest your face on these parts of your body.
Don't be afraid to moisturize
- Drink lots of water!
